WHAT WE BELIEVE

Rooted in Scripture. Centered on Christ. Growing together in faith.

WE BELIEVE IN GOD

We believe there is one true and living God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, loving, righteous, all-powerful, and sovereign over all creation.
(Matthew 28:19; Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 1:1–3; Psalm 103:19)

WE BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and the authoritative guide for what we believe, how we live, and how we serve. Scripture reveals God’s character, His plan of salvation, and His will for humanity.
(2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:105;
2 Peter 1:20-21)

WE BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and will return again.
(John 1:1, 14; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:11; Matthew 1:18–23; Hebrews 4:15;
Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 7:25)

WE BELIEVE IN SALVATION

We believe every person needs salvation because all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.
Salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ—not earned through good works, religious activity, or church membership.
(Romans 3:23; Romans 10:9–10;
Ephesians 2:8–9; Acts 3:19)

WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, brings believers into new life in Christ, dwells within every believer, and empowers us to live godly lives, serve others, and bear spiritual fruit.
(John 16:8–13; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22–23; Romans 8:9–11)

WE BELIEVE IN THE CHURCH

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, composed of those who have placed their
faith in Jesus Christ.As a local Baptist congregation, Friendship is committed to biblical teaching, congregational participation, Christian fellowship, spiritual growth, and carrying out the Great
Commission.
Jesus Christ is the head of the Church.
(Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:42–47; Colossians 1:18)

WE BELIEVE IN BAPTISM

We believe baptism is an act of obedience for those who have personally accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. We practice baptism by immersion as a public testimony of faith, symbolizing our identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism does not produce salvation; it expresses the faith of one who has trusted Christ.
(Acts 8:36–39; Mark 1:9–10)

WE BELIEVE IN THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe the Lord’s Supper is a sacred ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ. Through the bread and cup, believers remember His sacrifice, proclaim His death, and anticipate His return.
(Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26)

WE BELIEVE IN CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP

We believe accepting Christ is the beginning of a lifelong journey of spiritual growth. Every believer is called to grow in biblical understanding, prayer, holiness, love, stewardship, service, and obedience to Christ. At Friendship, we describe this journey as:
KNOW Christ   →   GROW in Christ   →   LIVE like Christ   →   HELP OTHERS follow Christ
(Luke 9:23; Romans 12:1–2; 2 Peter 3:18; Matthew 28:19–20)
