Borrowed Clothes Won't Fit

1 Samuel 17:39
"And David said to Saul, 'I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.' So David took them off."

Saul's armor was good armor. It simply wasn't David's armor.

Before David faced Goliath, he had enough wisdom to recognize that he could not win his battle pretending to be somebody else.

Comparison will make you wear things God never fitted for you. Somebody else's style. Somebody else's calling. Somebody else's methods. Somebody else's definition of success.

Before long, you're uncomfortable trying to become someone God never created you to be.

God has already given you what you need for your assignment. David didn't need Saul's armor because he had already learned what God could do with a sling.

You don't have to imitate somebody else's anointing to walk confidently in your own.

Here's the challenge: Where are you trying to become somebody else because you don't believe what God put in you is enough?

"Then the man of God said, 'Where did it fall?'and made the iron float."

Sometimes what you lose seems too small to bother God with. The borrowed axe head wasn't a national crisis. Nobody's life was in danger. Yet God intervened in an ordinary problem that mattered deeply to one man.

That ought to encourage you. God is not only present for cancer diagnoses, family crises, and life-changing decisions. He cares about the everyday details too.

The misplaced thing. The unexpected bill. The problem at work. The concern you almost feel guilty praying about.

There is nothing too big for God's power, but there is also nothing too small for His attention. If it concerns you, you can bring it to Him.

Here's the challenge: Have you reduced prayer to emergencies and stopped inviting God into the ordinary details of your life?

So don't come to worship empty today. Bring Him your gratitude. Bring Him your attention. Bring Him your praise. Bring Him your obedience. You don't worship to earn His goodness; you worship because you've already experienced it.
