Don't let a compliment become your fuel
Don't Let a Compliment Become Your Fuel
Proverbs 27:21
"The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, and a man is valued by what others say of him."
Praise can test character just as surely as criticism. Compliments feel good, but if you become dependent on them, you will eventually start performing for them.
Receive encouragement with gratitude, but don't build your identity on it. You were valuable before they noticed you. You were called before they applauded you. And you remain loved when the room becomes quiet.
The healthiest confidence can appreciate praise without needing it to survive.
Here's the challenge: Does affirmation encourage you, or have you started needing it to feel significant?
Action Step: The next time someone compliments you, simply say thank you, then privately thank God for the ability or opportunity they recognized.
Have a grounded and Victorious Saturday
