Don't come empty
Don't Come Empty
Psalm 116:12
"What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?"
Sunday is a good day to ask a different question. Instead of beginning with, "Lord, what do I need from You?" ask, "Lord, what can I give back to You?" The psalmist looks over his life, remembers God's goodness, and realizes that gratitude ought to produce a response.
We can become so accustomed to receiving from God that we forget to respond to God. He woke you up. Sustained you. Forgave you. Protected you from things you saw and things you never knew about. He carried you through another week. You may not have everything you want, but you have more evidence of His faithfulness than you can count.
So don't come to worship empty today. Bring Him your gratitude. Bring Him your attention. Bring Him your praise. Bring Him your obedience. You don't worship to earn His goodness; you worship because you've already experienced it.
Here's the challenge: If God gave you nothing else today, would what He has already done be enough to make you worship?
Action Step: Before worship today, identify three specific things God has done for you this past week. When you enter worship, intentionally thank Him for each one.
Have a grateful and Victorious Sunday
