? WEEK 1 — DANGER
Jesus Has Authority Over the Storm
? Text
Mark 4:35–41
? Theme Scripture
“Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” — Mark 4:41
⸻
? Biblical Foundation (What Jesus Already Taught)
Before the storm, Jesus had already been teaching about faith and the Word (Mark 4:1–34).
He taught:
•The Sower — the Word only works in the right heart
•The Lamp — truth must be received and applied
•The Growing Seed — God works even when we don’t see it
•The Mustard Seed — small faith can produce great results
? The focus was clear: How you respond to the Word determines what you experience in life.
⸻
? The Shift — From Teaching to Testing
“Let us cross over to the other side.” — Mark 4:35
This was not just a suggestion—it was a promise.
Then the storm came.
? The storm was not random
? The storm was a test of what they just learned
⸻
? Key Insight
The Word was taught in verses 1–34
The Word was tested in verses 35–41
⸻
⚡ What the Storm Revealed
1. The Word Was Already Given
Jesus said, “Let us go over.”
They had a promise—but did not stand on it.
2. The Storm Revealed Their Soil
Instead of faith, they said:
“Teacher, do You not care…?”
? Fear choked the Word they had just received.
3. The Storm Was a Living Illustration
Jesus didn’t just teach faith—
He demonstrated:
•Authority over the storm
•Power of the Word
•Weakness of fear
4. Jesus Rebuked the Storm — Then Their Fear
“Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
? The real problem was not the storm
? The real problem was their faith
⸻
? Key Teaching Points
1.Obedience does not exempt you from storms
2.Fear grows when faith loses focus
3.Jesus speaks peace into chaos
4.Storms reveal what you truly believe
⸻
? Application
Storms are not sent to destroy you—
They are sent to reveal whether you believe what God said.
⸻
?️ Discussion Questions
•What “storms” are believers facing today?
•Why do storms expose our faith?
•How do you stand on God’s Word in difficult moments?
⸻
⚡ Challenge
Where have you allowed fear to speak louder than what God said?
⸻
✅ Action Step
This week, declare daily:
“Peace, be still—God has already spoken over my situation.”
⸻
? Prayer
Lord, strengthen my faith so that I trust Your Word even when storms arise. Teach me to stand on what You said and not what I see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
⸻
? Key Truth
When Jesus is in your boat, the storm cannot destroy your destiny.
